This is about a "Ricebox," please don't beat me up.  Too much.  Grin

Does anyone know if the IC-706MkIIG's AF Output available from the rear panel (ACC Connector Pin 12 / DATA Connector Pin 5) is before or after any audio-shaping circuitry?  While listening to some AM Amateur and shortwave signals, they seem to have more dynamic range than the rig is designed for, of course being primarily for communications and not entertainment. (Note: this is with all filters and noise abatement [NB/DSP] switched off.)

I'm thinking of exploring the old trick of running external audio to a hi-fi/stereo amp, using this convenient connection. Has anyone else done or heard of it, on this rig?  I've had a hard time trying to locate a schematic.

Seems to me I remember when I had a 706MKIIG that I ran the detector output to a Bogen 15 watt amplifier (pair of 6V6 push-pull) and a Lafayette bookshelf 3-way speaker with a 10 inch woofer. Listening to thunderstorms and summer static this way was worse then fingernails scratching a blackboard.
