This "high end" prehistoric tube stuff reminds me of most
multi-level marketing strategies.  They create their own
economy and standards full of myths and people follow and
believe.

I once met one of these audio guys who was also a talented
telescope maker. You could see the crazy look in his eyes -  
he actually believed what he was saying - as he tried to sell
me a $22,000 multi 12AU7 audio power amplifier.  What he
didn't know is that he couldn't have given it to me - for free! ..... :lol:

Besides being kewl to look at and without a doubt good sounding, it makes me wonder. Do the companies that make these behemoths actually sell any? Who would spend $82,000 for a hi-fi?

Could it be that they build these things just to have impressive looking apparati at trade shows? I dunno.

The same folks with more money than sense who believe the more it cost, the more it impresses the other loaded and senseless folks.

I've nothing against rich folks, but so many of them are "materialistic impress the neighbours" types.
