I ran across this interesting article about Hal from 2015

Some people on Eham.net are looking for their equipment that was sent to him.

I suspect that IF it was not sold to someone else, it is in the current auction...

For Hal Reports - I check into the Antique Wireless Association's  Bruce Kelley Memorial Net occasionally.  That net meets Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 9:30 a.m, Eastern time on 3837 kHz LSB. Sometimes one of the fellows gives a report on Hal; talks to him on the phone or visits him.  Hal has been moved from one hospice facility in Jamaica, Long Island, NY to another one very recently.  Apparently, his condition goes down and up, down and up. Sometimes what he says is delusional.   Thatís all I can say.  Tune in yourselves.

Hal reports are also available on Sunday mornings on the AM Carrier Net that meets 8:00 AM Eastern on 3835. WA2RAS is the guy who maintains contact with Hal.

Yes!  Jeff, WA2RAS sees Hal quite often.  Jeff does give us many updates on the AM Carrier Net & also on the Monday morning AWA SSB Net.

I heard this morning on the Antique Wireless Association (AWA) Bruce Kelly Net (75 meters) from Jeff WA2RAS that Hal K6DPZ passed away Thursday May 28th.  He was 74.  He had been in a nursing home on Staten Island, NY, then was in the hospital very recently. The funeral service is taking place now on Staten Island.

I haven't been able to find an obituary on the web yet.  Otherwise I would start the K6DPZ SK in the Announcements section.

The local NYC ABC station did a story on him and his plane several months ago, but his radio interests were not mentioned. I never knew he was a ham. I'll have to watch the news and see if they pick up on the story

Possibly a Covid casualty? Although the word on the street was that he was not well at all...
