in going through the 'pile' and sorting what can go and what can stay, a couple of Fluke 8300 digital voltmeters (actually multi-meters) turned up. One lights up and one does not.. the light-up one sometimes shows a voltage. These are possibly service-able even though the tech is 1973. Lots of digits. Found a manual copy on electrotanya.com - not the best but good enough. will be good enough. I think these would make good displays for two rack mounted power supplies in use here and they have 'nixie' tubes so that's nice.
