I have installed a WebSDR system at a Globe Wireless receive site on the California Coast. This is a multiuser system and covers 160M, 75M, 60M and 40M, especially the AM portion of those bands. It may be possible to add some of the higher bands in the future. The Omni antenna is good for 3 to 30 MHz so that is not an issue. However CPU load and internet bandwidth are not unlimited and I need to get some experience to see how many users it will realistically handle. Time will tell.

Yes, there is a mixing issue in the 160 receiver. I have a bandpass filter on the way that should solve it.

Craig - Thanks for setting it up and sharing the link. I have listened to several AM & SSB over the past couple of days. Nice to listen in on some western QSOs. FYI, I have heard broadcast stations above 3900 so it seems that there is a mixing issue on 75M as well.

This rx is in Half Moon Bay, yes?
Maybe you can answer a question for me. I found an abandoned HF station on Skyline Rd. Large rhombic still up. The transmitter room was gutted, but an old school telephone actually still had dial tone and placed a call to my cell.
I thought I'd found out what it was for years ago, but can't find the links anymore. I've lost the number I had, or I'd try a reverse directory search.
Any idea who / what it is / was? I'd love to take my hf portable there :-)

I had read that the GW HF licenses were assigned to a company called Global WidebandHFNet, LLC, and didn't make the connection. Were the Eastern sites leased properties? I don't see the MD location for WCC, or the Slidell location for WNU. 73, Jim |

There was an HF site on Skyline a few miles south of the 92 intersection. I do recall a rhombic there many years ago. I was told it was a receive site for RCA Global Communications in the day. Nothing there but a cell site now.

That's a pretty hot receive setup. At 8PM Eastern time (5 PM California time) I was able to see and hear my 75 meter Vs sent on CW, with a KW and 2-element horizontal array here in Maine. The TCI antennas are well designed. I have put up many of their models all over the world and they work well. I'm still waiting for a scratch and dent sale so I can put up something new in my own back yard.

Just tried it out from my iPhone. Mobile version came right up when I clicked on the link to the mobile version but can't seem to change bands off of 160. I can enter an 80 meter freq. but receiver keeps reverting back to 160. Any suggestions? I can use the full site version on the iPhone but it doesent seem to have an option to increase the playback buffering. That smoothed things out on the mobile version. Thanks for sharing this link!

I don't use the iOS interface very often, but here is what works for me. When it opens the mobile window, start the iOS audio, then type in a new frequency immediately followed by selecting the mode in the drop-down box. If all else fails, restart the Safari browser.
