Is there any AM activity on the West Coast on the VHF bands?

I have limited ability to put up and antenna, but on the other hand I have a good VHF QTH -- side of a hill overlooking the Sacramento Valley from the East.

This is a list of 6 meter "Nets" copied from the AMWindow web site. No clue how many are still active.
Obviously the best way to determine any activity is to throw up a 6 meter antenna but even a 80 meter antenna might give you some results if there are stations close by. During 6 meter band openings over the years, I've worked lots of stations all over the country with a 75 meter inverted vee.

Making AM GREAT Again!

Other than SAMCLUB,  I don't think any are in his area.

I lived at 7k feet asl on the border of  the Mojave desert and central Valley.

About the most prominent vhf signal I heard was Overbecks CW sentry,  on 2 meters.   That Beacon was just a couple miles away,  damn near line of sight.

No,  not a lot of v/uhf am activity in California.   Not that I heard in 3 years sitting 7 thousand feet above everything.

Incidentally,  with a kilowatt on ten meters,  I could open up almost any repeater on ten in the entire state.   So I didn't have much shadowing.
