For those interested in CW and a historic coast station check out their newsletter. Next years N of N may be in jeopardy as the licenses have been sold. And if you know the area, the next door Coast guard station has been decommissioned. If you are near there never hesitate visiting the site, worth the trip to an amazingly beautiful area. We had a nice hike out there last year on one of the many trails.

Took a trip over to KPH at Point Reyes on Saturday Halloween day with W6LPM, it was a nice clear warm fall day. Point Reyes can be cold and foggy but the fall is best for weather.

Spent 3 hours at the Point Reyes site which was the Receive site, the guys there were very friendly and gave us the grand tour. They also called ahead to the transmitter site at Bolinas, 40 minute, 20 mile drive, to be sure there was going to be some one there too. We spent several hours at Bolinas.

Last summer I visited the Chatham Marconi Maritime Center at Chatham on Cape Cod, that site was at one time remotely controlled from Point Reyes. Chatham is now a museum and well work the trip, I think it is closed for the winter.

further down 1 by Half Moon Bay is the KFS ....I believe...site. Luckily I didn't wreck when I saw it out of the corner of my eye.

can't get the whole link to go but hit the satellite view in the bottom left corner

So Tom, is the original Bolenas building a museum now? The building further in from the ocean has all of the feedlines going to it in the picture. I didn't make it there to the transmitter site. Next time.

The original Bolinas TX building is divided between some group that has none thing to do with radio, they have about half the building and I don't recall their name. The second half of the building is where the transmitters are, this has functioning equipment and isn't open to the public the same way the RX site is at Point Reyes. The guys at Point Reyes called the fellow who was working in Bolinas that day to let him know we were coming. If you were wanting to see the site at Bolinas you would want to check first at Point Reyes.

The Bolinas site has lots of old equipment that has been stripped for parts to restore other equipment and because there is equipment in service it isn't a place you would want the public walking around unescorted.

There is a second building at Bolinas, in very poor repair, that had the original 500 KHz spark transmitter, we walked out to it put the escort didn't have the key to open it.

I'm not sure about the site south of Half Moon Bay, that area is close to me, a 45 minute drive from me. I should take a ride out there to see.
