I am just getting used to 40M propagation from the West coast - only having the new Super Senior for 6 weeks now.
Anyway, last night a few minutes after 8 pm local (0300Z) I heard a station testing on 7290.  It was Steve, WA1QIX and we had a nice, 20-minute, QSO in spite of the static crashes.  Pretty neat, I thought, for summer time.  A few minutes later my CQ was answered by N5AEA near Dallas.  Ed and I had a nice chat.
Check out 40M from wherever you are, especially in the evenings.

Will have to take a gander late in the evenings, Craig.... heck, I probably wont be able to hear you, being we are within 150 miles apart.

Congrats on the good contact, Craig. 40m is a fun band, especially at night. Sure - it can be fickle, and you have to dodge the FBC stations, but once you get use to its little idiosyncrasies, it's  fun. You just have to be careful about the stereotypical AM-windbag transmissions. I've heard a few guys talk themselves out of band conditions on there.
