more inpoot often yields more outpoot

I've been looking at a west coast handbook ed 13 and it discusses a variant of cathode modulation named screen-plate modulation ... this is quite interesting as it shares attributes with cathode modulation (esp a variable intermix of grid/plate modulations) but uses the plate modulator in the conventional place (the plate circuit) rather than the cathode ... the screen is not self modulating but is fed with lower swing levels of plate circuit audio and a screen supply ...

anyone have experience with this critter ?

Not sure about what you are talking about, but many rigs had windings on the mod transformer for the screen.
ART13 did I think and the Collins 30K1 did.

Anything plate modulating a 4x150/4cx250b had a screen winding also.

Its nothing new or special, and I do not think it works any better then self modulation with a choke or resistor.

this approach would better be called compound screen / plate modulation because both are actively done and the design used can be made much more flexible by using a fet / cathode follower to drive the screen ... use more plate modulation if you have the iron and mod tubes for it ....use more screen modulation if you have a large plate rf tube and a wimpy plate modulator

you heard it here first
