I worked Jim N7JW also yesterday, but on 40M AM...he said he had a contact with you, but here I heard zilch.  I use the Alinco 10M FM xcvr as a monitor set on 29.0 to tell me when someone is around, but didnt hear a thing, even in the FM portion of the band yesteday... and again today another lousy propagation day... 40M is dead here, period.

Hi John,

Jim has quite the antenna farm.

Some days are quiet on 10 and the East/West openings happen close to sundown on this end. That has been the situation lately.

Not much activity expected given the date but there is still some life.

VW, you are a stalwart. Your log proves it. The numbers have been better this week.

From the ARRL Propagation Letter.

Solar activity increased this week. Average daily sunspot numbers
increased from 50.1 last week (April 2-8) to 65.6 in the recent
(April 9-15) period. Average daily solar flux rose from 118.4 to
132.5. Geomagnetic indexes also increased.

The latest prediction shows solar flux at 150 on April 17, 155 on
April 18-20, 160 on April 21-24, 115 on April 25-26, then 120, 125
and 130 on April 27-29, 125 on April 30 through May 5, 130 on May 6,
135 on May 7-11, and 130 on May 12-14.

Something must be better.

Last night I was on 29000 with a local guy who was using one of those fake CB radios.

I kept the antenna pointed West hoping someone would show up.

00:26 W7GQE shows up with a converted CB into a 4 el @ 35'. 4 watts. He was able to talk with the local guy KD2FCH who was using similar power and a vertical.

Listening to guys in fower land right now 02:25 on 28.415. Also heard several VK and ZL ssb chats.

Earlier tonight was a W7???/mobile on 29000 who I could just hear. Almost got the call but local noise got the best of him.
