A friend of mine Rodger KB1CMR has one of these.  Actually, it's well designed in my opinion.  I was used during WW2 by the American Air Corp for traffic control for air strips.

More info.  Design was quite good, in my opinion.  The RF output is a pi net  2 x 807s mod by 2 x 807s

Very interesting.  I had never heard of JT before.  The speaker cover is reminiscent of well known Hallicrafters features.

I can't think of any similar combined R-T sets from this era, can you?

This radio fills the same niche of portable field operations for aviation support that the Navy MM set did (made by Westinghouse in Baltimore), which had separate MF, HF and TX sets in watertight compartmented boxes.  I have the two receivers.

I have not heard Roger on the air for some time now Al.  As I recall he was off the grid on the side of Killington or something.  He used to be a regular on 75.  He fit right in with some of the characters in VTland. Grin

My BC-1306, on a winter night with good band conditions I've been able to work stations in the LA area on the Saturday night Military Radio Collectors Net, 3985, 7:30 PM Pacific Time. I use a DY-105 dynamotor/vibrator power supply.

This radio was working when I got it. I also have several GRC-9 sets some which I have had to repair, they are very difficult to work on. I have the hand crank generator too.
