Motorola pot power rating?

I have a few of these wirewound pots that I am searching for their power rating. The Motorola part #18c82850h01 yields no results when searched on the web. Maybe someone out there has an old Motorola parts book that may have this number listed, if so, I'd be interested in the power rating of it.

Maybe you can make a guess by the physical size and resistance.

I have a number of WW pots for comparison.

The Motorola parts book won't give the value of the pot.  If you know what piece of equipment it fits, have the manual for that equipment, that might tell you but may not.  It may only give the part number to order.

As Chuck says, the physical size compared to others is your best bet.

I have a Motorola parts book, and it does give the value along with the power rating, but this part# isn't listed there. It's 10K and is about 1.5" in diameter. The wire is wound, on what looks like, a fiberglass form.

Is the box for the part marked with the part number?  Maybe the number was discontinued by the time the book you have was printed.  The only person I know that might be a source for that information is Glen Zook, K9STH.  He may have a book that has that number

You can find him by search of the call, he has a parts business and may be able to tell you what you have.

Pots of about that size are usually not over 5 watt power rating.  Probably don't go over 2-3 watts.

Looks to be about five watts, very comfortable at three. Ten is pushing it.  Just run it with the back open, bypassed for RF and you'll be fine.  Would make nice screen drive vernier between a couple of others.

Thanks for the input... I thought it would be at least 5w, but if used, I will be sure not to exceed 5w with it.
