Many people use Henry amplifiers on AM to bump up the power from their Vintage tube exciters.

In the PDF file below is an upgrade to the Henry 2K-4 Power Supply and a fix for a filament supply problem that you may encounter in the future.  Smiley

That's pretty cool. What was the B+ before? was it an increase? I prefer an LC filter usually for regulation, what is the advantage of changing?

Thanks Pat.

Prior plate voltage with the old LC filter was about 3150V standby and 2750 loaded, measurements taken on 40 meters.

Advantages are:

1. Better voltage regulation, 200 volt drop standby to load instead of a approx. 500 volt drop,

2. Less cabinet heat generated from bleeder system and filter choke, bleeder power reduced to 28 Watts from 216 watts.

Addendum: Updated Schematics only.

Phil

And I would say the "soft start" circuit is a requirement for any power supply using only capacitor filtering.
