Bare Bones Exciter: 6F6 as a Triode???

Yes, a 6Y6 as the amp in a basic MOPA would get me where I'm going but what if?

Suppose I use the 6AG7 as an oscillator and a 6F6 as a triode PA?  I noticed that with 285 volts on both the screen and plate and -20 volts bias, the tube will put out around 4.8 watts.  What if I tied the screen and plate together from a common supply?

Well if you do use it as a triode for RF, you'll have to neutralize it. More complicated circuit.
Interestingly, the Super Pro receiver uses triode connected 6f6's as audio driver and push pull audio finals. Good Ip/Ep transfer characteristics, -low distortion.

I'll just start with the oscillator and wing it from there.  I'll probably run that off a 180 volt regulated supply.
