I have a Valiant that has a number of mods done to it.
One was to replace (or add) a Kenwood 4 pin mike connector
on the rear apron. One pin is marked PTT, but grounding it
does nothing (yes, I am in AM mode).

Anyone have any links to a PPT mod for the Valiant I can
look at to see what may have been done ?

Dick,

The Valiant has factory PTT so no mod was necessary to add it.  Maybe someone didn't like having the roughly 175 volt DC potential used for the plate relay applied directly to the mike switch and added an additional relay and low voltage source.  Make sure the VR tubes are in place and seated, the PTT is looped through the safety connecting line built into the VR tubes.

That was dumb, I should have looked at the schematic !!

Anyway, the reason it didn't work was the lead going to the PTT pin
on the KW mike connector was not soldered !! Grrrrrrrrr !!

OK, onward and upward.

Tnx for the reply,
