I used to run the 3 diode, load resistor and keep alive voltage power supply setup on the big rig, using those 14kv 1 amp diodes on the big rig.

I never got into it much, just on the peaks from time to time, but got reports I was real wide.
I DID go real wide when I got into the NCL so I scrapped it.

Maybe the diodes were not fast enough or something, I had plenty of extra clean audio to drive the rig.

I am not sure how the one diode setup would be different.

You would want to check the rig with an SDR receiver to see what actually happens, and maybe put tones into the rig and see the byproduct levels.

Maybe loading the grid input of the 4x1 will remove the 100 MHz trash and make tune up easier?

Did you try loading the rig up lighter while maintaining the plate voltage to get less power out?

I am not sure why, but everything I ever had seemed to like higher voltage and less current.
