There is also currently one on QRZ.com.

Interestingly, in both threads combined, there are only one or two anti-AM raves.

Yes, interesting reading. Looks like AM is quite mainstream in those threads with lots of new guys trying out their riceboxes on AM, etc.  Some misconceptions, but at least they're talking positively.

I found it funny that a few posts were P&Ming about the long old buzzard transmissions of AM.  One guy said he even wrote an article in '93 QST about the subject entitled, "Solder to Talk"....  HA!!!

["Hold on guys, let me finish melting this connection........... OK all set  -  I've got a several pages of notes to cover here...."]

Use an "AM Courtesy Filter" to limit transmit audio bandwidth  +-4.5 KHz, +-6.0 KHz or +-8.0 KHz when needed.  Easily done in DSP.

Tom VU has gone nowhere and will be back on the air soon!

Tom has been building ad working through some large projects and when I spoke to him a few days ago he said he should be back on later this fall.

Too bad the thread on eham hasn't seen any action for the last 2 1/2 years.....

I tried to look at the "k1man" thread on QRZ the other day......

Christ, I can't be bothered...!!!

Read through several pages of posts, and STILL can't find the subject!!!

Or anything even close to a thoughtful sentence....

Yeah,

It's getting old, and has degenerated to sniping, and smart/cute remarks.  I don't even look at it anymore.  That seems to be a common malady of a lot of threads on the zed.

Best strategy to keep it on track is to continue making useful, on-topic comments, even to the point of pulling out and commenting on the most minor but worthwhile remarks of others.

Eventually the trolls and nay-sayers will give up, and other bystanders will join or re-join the conversation.

A national malady.  This has become a babbling society. We are all guilty from time to time, even on AM. Try reading through 90% of the threads on e-ham or QRZ.com. Or listening to 75m slopbucket.  Or even to a press conference by the President of the US!  How many thoughtful, coherent sentences do you see or hear?

Everywhere such as...

In a weird way, she answered the question (albeit a stupid one that was poorly phrased) - the public schools are turning out idiots like her!

Too funny.
