Wanted: metal bottom cover for S-38

I've got a first-generation Halli S-38, the one with the smooth black finish, that's missing the bottom cover. My understanding is that the bottom plate on the original S-38s was metal until toward the end of the run, just before moving to the S-38A, when it was changed to cardboard.

Anybody got a junker with a metal bottom plate? I could cut or buy a cardboard or fiberboard replacement but would prefer to go with the original design.
