6 meters is open as I type. First good opening in many months. Unfortunately, 6 meter beam is still on the ground so I'm using the 75 meter inverted vee.

I picked up some SSB on it. I don't have a good TX ant. for it nor anything making more than 10 watts.

That's where all the action is. AM guys probably went to bed. Worked several MN, IA, WI, KS, NB stations with the Icom IC 756 PRO II and the 75 meter inverted vee. Band was also opening into AZ and NM when I shut down. Got a hamfest early in the morning.

I just worked WA0FBQ in EM 37 in Missouri from FM 08 Virginia on 50.405.  6 meters has been good lately.

I just worked K9KEU from the Milwaukee area on 50.4AM. He was running a Clegg Thorr into a stepper IR, and I had my Gonset G50 going through a Heath 2060A tuner, and then into my 80M OCF Inv V.

Signals good both ways...My first 6m long hall contact ever. :-)

Lots of stuff going on. Right now parts of Europe are experiencing multi-hop Sporadic E openings in southern South America. That's some nice hopping. 6 was also open yesterday in the U. S. and it's still open today.

A lot depends on antenna and conditions. A simple test for audio and RF output would be to attach a 25 lamp to the RF output jack and adjust for maximum brilliance. Then speak into the mike. The lamp will undulate as you speak. It won't tell you the quality of audio but just that audio is there. Over the years I've worked numerous AM stations with my HA-460. The smallest beam I've ever used was a 5 element Cushcraft many years ago. I'm now using a 7 element M2 on 31 foot boom on a 75 foot tower.
