W7DET Seattle, 1957 An exemplary home-brew AM, CW and RTTY station .  An amazing station and an amazing person behind it!

Attached are  station descriptions, an article from QST, 1957,  and his obituary.
Fascinating guy, and a ham's ham.

I would have loved  to have worked him, and known him.

Wonder where is beautiful piece of work is today?

Also I noted how the bug has a little nook in the front of the xmitr...

Wouldn't want to have to move the desk to get at the back... Cheesy

Great looking station and that shot is great quality photography.  I do wonder about the heat build-up though in that kind of console.  I wonder if there are vents on the top?  The back is probably open but as Bear notes, it is up against the wall.  A back view is on the second page of the QST article.

Still  amazing after 56 years!    That is precisely the kind of station I dreamed about and lusted over  when I first got into ham radio.

BTW - the station picture  graces the home page of my club's  website,   www.ve3orf.ca
