I can’t imagine this being possible. The thing should not be on the air. If it’s producing spurious from over modulation or in this case harmonic at that level it needs to be shut down until repaired. I am not the best when it comes to facts and figures but with the two 5 kW AM stations I take care of whenever I know of a problem I try to resolve it, and have always been under the impression that all AM broadcasting is supposed to be vertical ground wave and all spurious including harmonics are suppressed 80 dB, unfortunately today we have many owners who run things like this under an STA or other excuses but there is no excuse for this happening. If they cannot afford to repair it or cannot find someone qualified to repair it they should not be in the business or on the air.

Just took another listen at 2:00 today.....they are +10 over S-9 here on Long Island on my NC-400. The chief up there told me he was going to have it taken care of. I guess he's a little slow.

The phrase "no clue" comes to mind.

WCKL is in Hudson, which is just south and on the other side of the river from me - across from Catskill NY.

The other issue is how are they matching to that "long wire"? I am sure that the Energy Onix stuff does not like
to see any mismatch at all. Soylent state it is.

I wonder how they wrested control over the license from those characters who squandered it and had it all screwed
around in bizarre financial circumstances. Some time back I did some minor research on it. Seemed like very shady
stuff.

Don’t want to keep beating the drum about this but if it were one of my responsibilities it would be resolved as soon as notified, or the station would be off the air. Can see where if you have a Ham within close distance to your station that there receiver may become overloaded from the fundamental, or they can be so close in that the level drives there front end nonlinear and produces images but this sounds like the spurious can be picked up in several locations and nowhere near the transmitter. Just looked at the FCC web site and found there STA for operating at a maximum of 250 watts day and 11 watts at night, but that’s if they produce no noticeable interference. If you want to see the STA for yourself try:

Its pretty apparent either they don't care or they lack the expertise to do anything about it.  Saying that, the local FCC field office should be contacted if the problem is going to get resolved.  Ham's, ARRL and who knows else has contacted them and the interference continues.

Okay, check the time stamp of this post...

I am tuned to 3920 (just to do a quick check) and what do I hear in there
just above the spherics?

Why there is music!

Gee, I wonder how the 7th harmonic of an 11 watt output (as required by the
STA for night time operation) of a 560 KC signal could be propagating
down here into the New Castle area in Delaware?

The signal is weak, peaking at S-6 and has some QSB and sounding a bit
like church music.  Definitely not pop or rock, etc.

Actually, the signal is a bit better than when I heard it yesterday afternoon
around 2:30PM.

Right now the tune is "Old Man River"...

Time for A call to the FCC as has been stated earlier on this thread. They
need to be shut down till the problem is fixed.

The 3AM SID confirms the signal is from WCKL, New York...

PS:  Would you believe it, The 5th harmonic at 2800 KC is in there as well
at near the same signal as 3920 and the 9th (5040 KC) is present but
somewhat attenuated.... Just for kicks I checked the 3rd harmonic but
there were several signals mixed as would be expected on 1680 KC at
       this hour...

So is WCKL off air or did they clean up the signal?  Can't detect a carrier today at 3920.

I can't heard them here in Albany but I did try their streaming audio. It did not work.

I listened the other day to CKL on their assigned freq. Heard Spanish language broadcast.

I have been so sick with the flu that when I multiplied 560, I couldn't figure it out right... so I am not sure if I scanned
up to 3920 or not.
