In restoring my Ranger and removing the dial cover I discovered that the plastic dial has two black foam?? pieces that buffer behind it. Since my Ranger is 55 years old the material is kind of deteriorated and sticky. I would like to replace it. Has anyone found a suitable material or method to do this?

I have ordered the suggested replacement rubber coaming for the dial cover.

A few years back I replaced mine but I can't remember who was doing this. I know someone is,so keep asking. If I remember I will post the info.
