VK2

Well, if its not one thing, its another thing...

After cleaning her up a bit, adding a fuze to the LV transformer and SSing the HV Rectifryer, all thats left to do is  fix the mic input fer a D10-4. Gots a 10 Meg out of the parts drawer, some new mic cordage and a mic connector. Just gota find grid1   and   it's  a  9 pin tube!!  Where did this 12ax7 come from?; and its followed by a 12by7! I guess someone did not like the 6AU6.

This is going to be another long trip.

Tucked away in the ?original? typed assembly manual is the modification schematic of the low level audio...

I was hoping to get this on the air for the Rally, but thats probably not going to happen.

If it was like my johnson, the resistor is inside the shielded mic cable that runs from the connector to the first tube. A royal PAIN to change out.

"  the resistor is inside the shielded mic cable "

Well, for me, the Rangers cure was easy. Grab the dykes and cut the whole thing out, then slobber a 5Meg in its place. Good for the sole.

This VK 2 was modified for SSB and then converted back. I've got a pile of paperwork for it; some is hand written and dated 1954. When I pawed through it, thats when I found the speach amp mods.

I'll play with it for the next hour or so, then maybee I'll use my Special Call and get on the air.
