i was tuning up on 40 with my viker2, my '140 was listening fer the sig...i tuned up the viker, all ok there...but the '140 has gone deaf..if i crank up the volume, i can hear...but damage somewhere..tx output from the rig is fine...is there a diode/resistor that may have blown, to protect the receiver?  if so, where, and what value?...

Tim,

So ho much RF did the 140 take in? Was it connected to another antenna, or direct coax to the Viking II acting as a dummy load? If it was direct connected, was the loading changing on the v2, and did you smell anything?

well, i did smell something..the 140 was not connected to anything, directly...i have a ameco pre-amp connected to the 140, but it was not turned on, or active..the tx is fine, receive is deaf..

when the ameco is turned "off" and if it still permits receive, then it is likely a direct connection... I do not have a print on the 140, but I seem to think there is a small fuse for receive protection in there, I think there was one on my TS120. I may be dreaming this of course...

Does it have a calibrator? Turn on the calibrator and see if it works... it is a built in signal injector in effect. That will tell you if the problem is just in the front end... probably is...

Somewhere there is probably a schematic to look at... online?
