I have the chance to buy the matching distortion meter to go wih my 1931-A modulation monitor. I have the mod monitor hooked to the GK 400B. Is this unit worth having and using or is it just a parts unit? I love the old buzzard looks.

It is usable just for single-tone THD and noise readings, usually in a BC station annual proof-of-performance tests.

For hamdom, you might use it for balancing your class-B modulator bias with a sine-wave tone.  Overall THD readings prolly won't apply.

Thanks Dennis,

I had a feeling that it's cool to look at but of little, if any use, in a ham shack.

Yep, that series of G/R gear had lots of panache. Cool

Too bad nothing new has anything kinetic to feast your eyes on... Tongue

A high-buck SDR is virtually indistinguishable from a garden-variety PC.

Kinda' the same syndrome of new cars.
