Brandon in Louisiana as received in Maryland on 40M the other night.

Rapid, shallow fading like this is when I really wish I had synchronous detection.

Still, plenty of margin to the signal, nice S/N ratio the whole transmission.

Buddly fired up Derb's FT101 to help mark Tim's birthday this week.
N3DRB would have been 49.

We were reflecting on having gotten together at Carol and Frank's, where a wee bit of Derb now lives ...

Joe, WA3WMI can often be found on 40M daytime.

This was late afternoon and 7290Kc was delightfully clear of international BC interference.

First couple times I worked Rob K5UJ I thought he was in 5-land. Uh, no.  Near Chicago.  A nice toss with good signals into Maryland in late April, 2012

Hello to Dennis KA3BVJ as well -- normally stronger than this.  Guess the band was going long.

Static chases me away from 80M come late Spring, except maybe late afternoon.

By comparison, 40M sounds like the dead of winter ...

thanks for taking the time to record and transfer to mp3 Paul. its amazing what you can do with a few old cheap 813s and some wire up in a tree.

The quality was excellent, sounded like good operating practice.

Hey thanks, Jeff !

We have come a long way from physically mailing tape recordings back and forth, and I still have some from TimTron and HUZ that were made 20+ years ago.

I don't sound nearly so much like an old buzzard as now, hmmmm....

What is that strange "water dripping" sound?

Ah, but I was so much older then,
I'm younger than that now.
