I would've taken it at least one step further and tried tp put some kind of transmitter in it. Leave enough space between the door and the outer panel, and you could probably stick a class D or E solid state transmitter in the space between the two some that it will at least make some RF.

Extremely creative. It is possible that a few XYL's may be in for some surprises. This could really get out of control! Of course W6RNC (I think that was his call) actually started to build a "Kelvinator KW" many years ago, but I think the refrigeration was history! I remember talking to him in Central CA many years ago when all of the left coast AM was on 7160. Skip

Very COOL! I was expecting to see a real transmitter built in there when he pulled the door open....
The latest style all stainless slab door fridges would really lend themselves nicely to transmitter cabinet use.
Down in the basement shack, I have an RBB and RBC and a HB power supply for them racked into what was our original rather small fridge from when we were first married. It was just the right width for standard 19" rack panels and the receivers to fit in on shelf supports I bolted in there with the door removed.

He did a great job with the fridge for sure.
I always was temped to build an RF deck in an old microwave oven. Since it already has a HV supply it would be a natural. Plus, pretty good shielding to boot, not to mention the peak a boo window to see the tube(s).

IIRC, Joe (N3IBX) had acquired one that was built into a Coke machine cabinet. It had RF decks for HF all the way to 2 meters, a commom power supply and mudulator.
We used to refer to it as "The Coca Cola Kilowatt"

Frank, That Coke Machine rig was offered to me first, but I figured I did not need any more big rigs! I gave them Joe's name and I am glad he got it. 73, Joe, GMS

That’s just about as much transmitter as when I stick one of my kids in a cardboard box, put dryer ducts on the side and stick Christmas lights on the front and call that a robot. Ok art I guess but somehow make me think of when you see pictures with LED lights incorporated in them or velvet paintings of Elvis. But that’s just my opinion, and I have always been a cretin when it comes to art.

That is just the thing to do to an old porta-john. Then they would have a great excuse for a crappy signal...

That is possibly the greatest idea ever! I am inspired by that concept only in reverse; over at the TV station we have the cabinets from the old analog transmitters. They had huge external cavity klystrons (IOT) tubes in them that were on roll out carts. The tube assemblies have been removed and relocated to another site but the cabinets would be just the right size to install a toilet in and use as a bathroom stall. They already have a door, vent fans and some of the plumbing!

Super cool!
We where not allowed to have a mini fridge in the office. One day it hit us. We tore the panels off an old HP server and screwed them to the front of a fridge. On the weekend we hauled it up into the building. That thing was there for years and nobody ever paid any attention to it. We always had cold drinks.

Of course you get the occasional comment like this one... "Very fun! At first I thought you were nuts to be running such a big old transmitter. Then it became obvious just how clever you are. Well done! Bob KI4TZB pvreditor 1 day ago"
