So far have seen Martha and Joe W3GMS, Chuck W3FJJ, Ed KA3PTX, Charlie K3YA, and heard rumours Tim W3TIM is here.

How did the hall come to be named the Cow Palace? Is this in California? I seem to recall seeing a sign for it.

Maryland state fairgrounds, historically an agricultural / 4H kind of place.

Name probably descended from there.

Noontime, everyone now packing up. Some are going to the gun show next door, same site. The hamfest filled this site for Sat/Sun not too many years ago...

You saw that too, eh Frank? Was thinking of PMing Paul if he remembered the price, and if attractive, who the seller was ... if it didn't sell. Never used that variant but assume it's pretty close spec-wise to the RF-590 here. Could always put another one to work.

I agree. Who wants to look at another Ranger. Show us the receiver.

More like the 590A with fractional N synthesizer. Still kicking myself. The first time I went to Murphy Surplus they had a stack of them and I could have bought one cheap. A guy had one at Deerfield a few years ago that was the 590H frequency hopping model.

That thing looked like a piece of test gear !
SERIOUSLY !

Unremarkable and overlooked. I didn't even realize it was a receiver while I was standing there !  Sorry, didn't notice a price or anything about it.  I thought maybe I had a wider shot but -- you'll love this too -- I deleted it in the camera while walking around.

So it was the model you brought to Deerfield that time?  I remember something like this alongside the solid state transmitter demonstration table, W1E.

Martha and I had a great time over at Franks.  It was good so many could make it.  Those that were not able to make it, missed a very good get together.

Special thanks to Frank and Carol for hosting a superb event.

Hopefully everyone had a safe trip back home.

Smiling 'cause we all had a fantabulous time.   Don't know how I could've eaten another bite.

Carol, Frank, thank you for your suburb hospitality and your sensitive ceremony for Derb.

Glo, thank you so much for the remembrance . I'm sure I'm not alone in wishing you the very best.

Paul, for us out-of-town folks who didn't make it, who is who in the picture? I recognize you and W4GMS, but don't know the others. Maybe one day I can head up to the DC area for a hamfest with the AM folks.

Thanks for the hospitality, sorry I did not stay around for the festivities but the crew I was with was all fairly anxious to get on the road and get back across the bridge. You know, us eastern shore and Delaware people are afraid of cities and the like. How was the lasagna?

Lasagna was magnifico !

Derb's widow Gloria brought a few of his radio things later in the evening and spent time with us.
It was really good to see her.

Also arriving a little after the photo op were Phil, K2PG and David K3TUE.

One of the traditions at Frank & Carol's parties is to have a tour of the engine shed.  Didn't power up any of the antiques this time, but it was a great time with the aroma of old oil, varnished up gasoline, and grease on a lathe from 1880 that he's got there. Wow.

Also saw a possible Class E rig that Frank may eventually get back to.
He stores it outside on the roof for now (presuming the burnt up MOSFETs stink)

And I mis-labeled Joe as a W4. It is W3GMS, the only guy with a call letter sign, and I got it wrong. I am really wanting to travel this year and meet the AM'ers in other places. Not sure if I will make it to Elizabethtown, KY this weekend or not.Darn gas keeps going up. $3.69 here now.

Ahhh yes, as Bill said, a good time had by all.

Thanks again Carol and Frank for the great hospitality. I truly felt at home!

Just a note; Returned to me was one of the FT101Es Derb had used in his final days. I will be putting it in the rotation at radio BIL as the Derb Memorial Station, Ohio addition.

If you hear me on please drop in and give me yet another chance to SCHWING DA MUNKY!

That was a great weekend!

One of these days I'm gonna try to make it to a hamfest. Need to start finding parts for the homebrew rig I want to build. $3.69 a gallon for gas? I wish it was that much up here, over $4 at most places.

It was great to see everyone here!! I definately enjoyed having Y'all!! Many thanks to all that came.

Always remember, what makes a party is not the host or the food, IT IS THE GUESTS! ! ! !  Although, I dont know what I did different from any other time I make it, but this batch of lasagne was one of, if not the best batches I have ever made!

The blonde in the front row standing next to Joe (GMS) is Debbie (Mrs KA3VID).
