The Java loop only plays back the last hour,so it will be gone by 3:35 am EDT.

What made it odd?

There were 4 perfect circles of rain with halos  around them and the very center of each circle had a small clear spot in the center.I wish I had saved it,never saw anything like it.

You can go to NEXRAD, http://www.wunderground.com/radar/radblast.asp?ID=ENX&type=N0R and then look to the right side (scroll down)  "Related Information" and run a 24 hour loop of weather activities in any specific area. I didn't see anything unusual when I did the 24 hour loop.

Maybe my tin-foil hat is on a little too tight, but seems like every weather front lately is in the form of a hurricane rotation. Now let me go adjust my headband.

This should give you the real clue - most likely software anomaly.

Also, especially in night time hours, radar reflects on the higher humidity in the air over metro areas and cities giving the appearance of rain (software can't tell the difference). When humidity starts to fall below the threshold of radar reflection, software causes it to fade in color or just disappear.

The problem with the 24 hour loop is they take 1 hour snap shots.I couldn't find any past records that run a more detailed loop,it only lasted about 15 minutes.

Reportedly, we are in a perfect storm (no pun intended) regarding the unusual weather. Record high temps all across N. America. Involves an abnormal combination the polar oscillation, the jet stream and La Niña.  Expected to continue through the rest of March.

The early spring feels nice (when the sun is out), but not so good for radio conditions, with thunderstorms everywhere and plenty of QRN.  Also, it is worrisome to have unusual extremes of warm weather like this while it is still winter, since all it takes is one strong arctic front pushing its way south to spawn a cluster of severe tornadoes, as we just experienced a week or so ago.

the only thing i know of that is possible to do with a high powered ground based transmitter is change the ionosphere. give it a good blast with some high power RF and it will in a way "charge" the spot that is absorbing the power.

I do this all the time to talk to Dave, ZRF.

He says he's doing fine where he is, and that he listens to us all the time.
