The band is open at the present time with AM activity on 21.425

15 meters is open daily.  It's rare for it to not be open during daylight this year.

Turn your beam or dipole north and work Asia over the pole right now. T32AU and VP6T (South Pacific) are also being heard and worked. If you're using a vertical....hope.

What's wrong with a vertical?  Low take-off angle helps for DX.  I hear and work a LOT of DX since I put up my vertical.

Nothing. It's just not as good as a beam. The pileups on those stations were pretty huge and you need to stand out to be heard. It's far less likely to happen with a vertical.

John missed ya this past weekend..too much on my plate..will be there today around 1:30pm EST or 1830 UTC..would like to chat John as I want to find out exactly ur location as mother and me may go there (LA) in May possibly..babysitting our two grandkids agn.....now the other thing about vert to horiz..nah I'm not going near that with a 10' pole..LOL    73 de DAVE
