Dunno how accurate these things are but if even close, we should have a very high chance for good openings to South America from the East Coast of the USA in January. Same for East Coast to West Coast.

You can check propagation from other areas at the link below.

I generally don't take too much stock in these types of predictions since they only reflect time of day activity. If you understand a bit about 10 meter activity, grey line propagation, rotation of the earth, etc. you can pretty much figure out roughly what time of day the band might open from your location to another distant location. i.e. On 10 meters from the east coast, you generally can't work Hawaii, Australia, or the Far East at 10 AM EST. I prefer to use the "real-time maps", http://www.vhfdx.info/spots/map.php?Lan=E&Frec=28&ML=M&Map=W2L&DXC=N&HF=S&GL=S which shows actual activity on the band in the world in real time. Also, I'm sure these propagation predictions don't take into account Sporadic E openings which are common on 10 meters. However, as a tool, the prop prediction  charts can be used with the real-time charts for users to be more informed on specific band activities, MUF, etc.

That real time map packs a lot of info. I guess the WSPR page shows propagation possibilities too.

The real time info is very nice. P, Thanks again fer turning us(me) onto it.

Killing the crows and reading their guts is messy and time consuming.

Scrying into bowls of transformer oil is quite a bit less messy.

Toooo much reading and diddling.

This is simpler and in real-time:

I guess that link might be "useful" to the PSK31 diddlers, but I don't find it so for typical band openings for AM/SSB/CW contacts. I still prefer the one I referenced earlier. Whatever toots your horn.

Band openings are band openings . If anything it would help moreso because if I remember correctly PSK 31 on the Poropnet conglomerate  is mostly QRP . If a QRP PSK 31
"diddler" can make a coast to coast contact then that would indicate a signal 100 watts or better would have a decent shot at doing some DX as well. Just sayin' .....

All I can say, is that I hope 10 gets better again soon.  Living in flyover country, all too often, condx. have been el-sucko for me. since Nov. - too long for either coast, and not long enough for international work.

Oh Well,

10 is perking right now with  multi-hop Sporadic E, some F2, and TEP.

The band has been open nearly every day that I've checked to SA and EU. Conditions aren't like they were in the fall, but 10 has not been dead.

This won't help things!

Space Weather News for Jan. 19, 2011
http://spaceweather.com

EARTH-DIRECTED FLARE: Active sunspot 1401 erupted today, Jan. 19th, for
more than an hour around 16:00 UT. The long-duration blast produced an
M3-class solar flare and a CME that appears to be heading toward Earth.
Forecasters say strong geomagnetic storms are possible when the cloud
arrives during the late hours of Jan. 21st.  High-latitude (and possibly
middle-latitude) sky watchers should be alert for auroras this weekend.

Excellent - not bad stuff. This should hopefully perk up the F2 layer ions and provide 10 and 6 meters the potential of some good multi-hop openings. And there is nothing more cool then aiming your beam North and working stations by bouncing signals off the aurora.
