hi,

as a new ham operator i really want to get a boat anchor transmitter to get my station started. i dont have a strong preference for any brand or model but i would like a rig that has lots of available documentation. my reason for wanting a boat anchor rig is that want to be able to repair and modify it myself. learning about how rf gear works is my favorite part of amateur radio operation.

i live in los angeles CA and would like to avoid big shipping costs so local pickups would be preferred. i dont mind driving a reasonable distance.

just to let everyone know i have been in contact with one person about a potential ranger but i've been waiting for a call back from him for about a week.

i am still hoping someone else contacts with a transmitter or a source for one.

thanks,
