Bought a 40A in need of repair, while there is lot of info on the later Globe Scouts (and I own a 680), am not finding much on this one.  Have ordered a copy of the manual, but would appreciate corresponding with someone who owns one in working order.  Never owned one back in the 60s and didn't know anyone who did.  In particular am curious about the color scheme of the original.  This one's faceplate is a dark grey and seems to be original, the case being a lighter shade and I am suspecting it is not original color.  I have seen pictures on the web with various color schemes and wonder what is the correct original.

Also, the underside of the cabinet is recessed, not flat on the bottom like I thought it would be.   It does have louvers on the sides and back with screen on the inside of the cabinet over the louvers like pictures I have seen of the original cabinet in the ads.

Lastly, this one has the oscillator cathode grounded all the time.  Only the PA tube is keyed.  My 680 oscillator is keyed together with the PA, maybe this 40a was modified, maybe to use a VFO ( and/or to kill the canary ) ?

My next steps are to get modulation to function, the speech amp tube and driver are missing.  I suspect the couplates are bad, at least they were on the 680.

Anyone owning a 40a willing to share info about it, please send me an email.
