The CE6 is on the table, going to look at the 3900 bd first, since thats where I stoped last time, <feb 1998>
my have to find Find a couple of Fairchild FMT 5789 transistors, and Nec 2sc1424, I think it had a bad one, but this problem by itself would only effect certain
100 mc ranges, of operation.so there are other problems to find.
I was surprised to find that this machine was only a CE 6 not a 6a, my parts source machine is a 6a, and some one already got the 3900 board out of it.<city fire dept auction>
well here goes>>
btw bought a Gertsch FM 3 sig gen/meter last week end at Texas City hamm fest, looking for book now.

You're a little off the patch here with that subject matter, aren't you?  But I know what you are describing.

Are you a member of the Yahoo Cushman Group?  A couple of members may have some spare boards.  It's a lot of fun just being lazy and swapping the whole board out.

Re: the transistors, usually I am lucky and they are good or bad and nothing inbetween.  Most of the time for me, they have been good.  On those "accidentally slip with a probe by looking at a blonde hootchie through the window" days, I have replaced those Fairchild three legged fuses with some junkbox replacements which were totally house marked but came up about the same Beta and must have had equal or better limits at the upper end because they worked fine.

Sorry, folks I did not know the parameters,?Sorry I exceeded them
I do belong to the yahoo groupe, but some times days go by before messages get posted there, then they come< show up> all in a clump.
Thought I had found a group of serious trouble shooters, most of the Hamms I run into, these days, have never burned their fingers on a solder iron
As to the transistors they are being used as microwave osc, so I need to find a very near match , they look to be running in a reverse mode to get there.
But I will be back when I tackle the Hallicrafters Station I am going to put on the air.
so L8R
Thanks for your forbearance, with a newbie folks
