Anyone hearing the AL7FS beacon on 28.239??  I'm in SW Alaska and haven't heard it on my grundig the few times I've listened...I'd be interested to know if it is being heard in the real world...

I can reliably comment on the beacon. 

The rig acted up and we (Lloyd, KL7JGN and I teamed up on this location) had to shut it down for now.  It is on my bench for review and repair and will go back up.  We have a great location for it now in a more western part of Anchorage and up on the roof of a commercial site in the clear.  Great view in all directions.

I bought another rig but wasn't paying attention and it has no way to turn down the power.  Dumb. 

I am also considering just building up a Transmitter only at about 2-3 watts and running that instead of a transceiver.

On the plus side, the power supply and the keyer are working great!!

Special callsign...no.  Just remember the rules call for 10 meter and above if it is unattended.  The attended beacons that people put on from time to time only operate for a few hours at a time while they are in the shack.  There are a few special exceptions but not many.

It is best to Google the rules and read through them.

Brian is busy driving train out of Skagway right now...He is planning to come and visit us here in Naknek later this summer...
