Excellent episode of the WFD Net this afternoon, Saturday.
Rolled a recording on the last few mins as all the tall ships prepared to weigh anchor and float further down the airwaves.
There's a Canadian group who gather at 6:30 and the courtesy make-way works well.

I guess you have to be a member of the AM Forever board, I am getting a message that I am not authorized to download the attachement.

Can you post the file here?

Huh.

I didn't realize that.

Well the MP3 is 17MB, about 15 mins, so it's too big for the file limit here.

Let me FTP it somewhere and post a link.

I moved it over to my personal listening device as an MP3, then back to a host site that's open. Hit the link.

I keep clicking my ruby slippers together like Glenda the Good Witch said, but I can't seem to get back to Kansas.

Nice one Todd! Hmmm... I wonder which "tall ship" Rodney Dangerfield represents...

The amiable co-existence with the Canadian guys who use the frequency after the WFD group has always impressed me.

I love the Homer Simpson "Doh!" at the 11 minute 15 second mark as Gary twists your call.

I was also impressed by the signal from the guy running the 1 watt SoftRock AM signal. The band was quite good as it went through its late afternoon - early evening transition.

It wasn't always like that, Rob... we endured quite a bit of jamming and anti-American comments from that crew before we came to an understanding.  Then one night we were a few minutes late relinquishing the frequency and it started all over again  Roll Eyes  Anyhow I think now they've finally come around to appreciate the fact that we keep the freq clear for them at 6:30.

That was quite the deal - he was a good S-9 at my QTH and fully readable when there wasn't any quack quack up the band.

What is the definition of "Tall Ship"?

A tall ship is a large traditionally rigged sailing vessel with multiple masts and rigged sails. Popular modern tall ship rigs include topsail schooners, brigantines, brigs and barques.

If you got a dipole strung between the tops of those three masts and got about 10 miles off the coast of CT you could strap with a DX100.

wat about dropping a wire down the side of one of those masts and throwing come copper strap over the side.  They'd hear you on the west coast on 160.  I can go to bed now and dream.

How 'bout a pair of phased full-size  75M rotary Yagis mounted side by side on each end of those tall masts?  Anchor out a mile, face NE to Europe, power up the generator and work a pileup that sounds like the NYSE during the Monday '87 market crash.

Or, work kayak CW QRP with Yaz.

Yep, feast your eyes on the green.

In the previous picture, can you see the apples on that tree? There were literally hundreds of them, big and red.  Two years ago I had to use an element from the 40M Yagi to knock them down.  That tree produced record numbers that were mind boggling. We made many jars of apple sauce and pies. Finally, I dragged three large boxes of apples out to the street and put out a "free" sign. They were all gone in a day.

For a while it was dangerous to walk under the tree.  We have never since seen a harvest like that ever before. It was a freak in 25 years.
