I've never had the use of the zero beat button on my Flex 5000 / PowerSDR SW.  After a few go-arounds with Dudley from Flex-Radio, it appears that he's given up on me.

The conditions for the button coming to life are

SAM detection

Spur Reduction off

But even then, nothing happens.  Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Gary WA1OXT doesn't know what's wrong either

So...

You bought a multi-k$$$ radio, a feature doesn't work, and the mfg / support  hasn't resolved it?

From the manual; did you do this:

Note: 0 Beat is only available if AVG is enabled for the Display.

I think the function is available in PowerSDR versions 1.10, 1.12, 1.14, 1.18, 2.xx

Interesting: Dudley never mentioned that.   Only that I have to be in either CW or SAM and that the SR (Spur Reduction) has to be off.

Thanks

Hi Al,

The zero beat function should work in both AM and SAM mode. At least it does with version 2.0.16. Not sure why Dudley would say it only works with CW and SAM. It's a nice little enhancement for our mode! Very smug.

Thanks guys for your response.  I did get it working - the key was to have the panadapter on AVG - a function I never use.  Yes it's nice but not precise.

I have used my crosshairs pretty much all the time.  If I want to be really close I go to 4X and slide the zoom all the way to the right and then punch the left click (with the crosshairs on).  That's usually within cycles of the other guy (if he's not running a SBE or a drifty EFJ VFO  Grin ).  A real refinement is to go to the phase display and with 1 Hz resolution turn the wheel on the mouse until the dot stops moving around either CW or CCW.  And that's very SMUG  Grin
