I found a decent size choke. The part number is 400185-1 or 400I85-1. I don't know exactly what it is from, but it might either be from a collins desktop transmitter or possibly a pulse generator of some kind as some remains from each were found in the pile. The choke was the only thing of any value there.

It's gray, about 5" wide, 7" long and 6" tall, sealed (welded or soldered sheet metal type) rectangular case with four 1/4-20 studs on the bottom for mounting and two small terminals on the bottom as well. By the terminal size, it appears to be for a low voltage, certainly <1000V. The part number is in small letter on top, but no maker's mark.

Can anyone help ID this item?

Hi Patrick,

I doubt if it is from a Collins piece of equipment, based upon the part number format on that choke.

The Collins part numbering scheme was usually something like this: 167-0897-000.

I wish I could be of further help.

Good luck & 73,

Bruce

Could you post a picture of the choke?

Here it is. The original part number is on the top in 1/8" black letters, no special font.

It's a Navy Spares device,

TTQY   TERMINAL TYPE AND QUANTITY   2 PIN
BKPL   RATING METHOD   ELECTRICAL SINGLE COMPONENT SINGLE WINDING
CRBZ   WINDING OPERATING CURRENT   600.0 MILLIAMPERES DC MAXIMUM
CRGS   DC RESISTA

Theres your basic info..  It's a reactor, 600 mils max, but it does NOT give any other ratings.

Listed on a couple airborn sites, as well.

Mfg by RAYTHEON.

It's known throughout the gubmint as the following part numbers:

400185-1
5950000238952
000238952
00-023-8952

Hope this helps at least a little bit... I don't have any other data than this on it.

BUT, used in aircrap!
