Yep, point your finger to the center of that blue blob and there's Cornecticut.  They're killing us!  Blizzard cornditions. Took Yaz for a walk - looked like a polar bear.

Use an "AM Courtesy Filter" to limit transmit audio bandwidth  +-4.5 KHz, +-6.0 KHz or +-8.0 KHz when needed.  Easily done in DSP.

Hey Steve,
I looked at the web cams in Colonial town. It looks very pretty, but dangerous for those not used to that type of weather. Alan says they closed down CWF at 3:00 this afternoon.

I'm suprised they lasted until 3! The main roads aren't that bad. Even the streets in my neighborhood are quite passable. The winds are supposed to kick up to 35 MPH. That might take down some snow laden trees and kill the AC power. That would suck far more than the snow!

Just checked and see only about 3" deep. Reason is the snow is VERY fine granules, so accumulation is slow. It's been snowing hard for six hours now, so this is surprising.

Winds are 40mph+. I was watching the 40M Yagis getting pushed around earlier.  The one at 190' has hell to pay up there.

That aint the half of it, Bill. I lived down there for about 6 years. They would cancel school before the first snowflake hit the ground. Onetime the cancelled and the storm missed them. Roads were clear and dry. Made them go to school on Memorial Day, but they got all their spring break off! That would have pissed me off had I'd been a kid!

I'm excited! The wind has picked up and the buoy bells are clanging away!
Bring on the blizzard, ready with the new generator, radio and the trusty wood stove.
Heater is running in the barn, comfortable 72 degrees despite the wind howling around the building. All in all, a great night to play radio!

Silly guys.
Nope, no computers in shack!
On the other side of the barn, yes.

Stations:
Collins 30K - 75A1
Icom 7700 - PW1

The Icom is as close to a computer as I come!

Not a Flex radio in the bunch, if you're going to use a computer to control your radio, why bother with RF?  Cheesy

Just took 8 passes to clear the sidewalk. Friggen snow plow packed it in real good. Wind is still wipping out there. My face still burns. Winter sucks. It is just an excuse to play radio.

You must have found something better to do Grin Grin Grin I was SWL'ing all night and didn't hear you. Lots of people over the week end were on the big 85 and below. Not too much 160 operation however.

There was a big 24" snow drift blocking the garage overhead door. OUCH! Once shoveled, I just drove the car up and down the driveway about 10 times.  The driveway looks good enuff for me. Screw shoveling or paying a plow...   I ain't anal-enuff to need a perfect driveway anyway. *Guaranteed* it will all be gone by June. Grin

Wild winds here last night and today...gusts at Westerly Airport about 2 miles from here peaked well over 50 about 2 AM.  We have two dwarf Alberta spruce trees outside the front door about 4 feet high in huge ceramic pots that weigh over 100 lbs each that were blown over, lit Christmas lights and all, put them back  upright about noon time, and at about 4 PM found one of them blown over again!  Thankfully less than a foot of snow, but drifts over 2 feet in places.  Our dog Yogi wanted to go out at the height of the storm, took one look out the door and ran back to the family room.  Had to shovel him a path to his favorite pit stop before he would go out.
