  Hello All!

When I cut out forms in light gauge steel with a plasma cutter, I am having problems. I trace the patern out with a pencil.

When the pattern is traced out with something like a sharp nail, it cuts OK.

Could the graphit in the pencil trace conduct better than the steel, causing the problems?

Tnx,

For best results always clean the surface to be cut as well as the back side...The plaz arc will track off on any conductive crap that is on the surface....Graphite pencils don't work....I agree that a Sharpie is the marker of choice.

The best thing to use is soap stone, easy to see since it's white in color plus non-conductive. My 2 Cents worth  Grin
