I am thinking of making a "plug in" rectifier and need a few 8 pin male octal plugs. Where would one aquire such an item if one wished to do so.

Thanks!

Antique Electronic Supply has some too. Or you could just bust out an old tube...

You can solder two diodes in a 8 pin plug.  But don't if the voltage is much above 300-400 volts DC.  If the voltage is higher you will need to use more diodes in series in each leg.  I use the 1N1508 IIRC, they are 1000PIV 3amp.  1000 volts peak is only about 600 volts RMS and it's never good to run them close to the max voltage rating.  I use 4 diodes in series in each leg even on a 600-700 volt DC supply.  The diodes are cheap enough to use more rather than too few.
