Some will remember Greg from the milsurplus or boatanchor email lists when he lived in AZ and signed "from sunny feenix". He's been down in Kingston NC for a while now, Steve and I got to meet him at Shelby along with Phil, Mike, and others. Greg's a Viet Nam vet who is fluent on such topics as the GRC-109, tiger stripes, and Montagnard. He worked with the latter and trained others to use the radio equipment among other things.

Greg has a Valiant on the air and was on his way to Winston Salem with his ART-13 in tow, to see Phil KC4VWU so he could work his magic on whatever was wrong with it. He stopped by here on his way up and spent a couple hours seeing the radio set ups here and shooting the breeze. Snapped a shot of him for posterity, seen below near the 'Wall of Woodness' in Guestroom 1.

It was an honor and a pleasure to have Greg stop by the place. Some of the stories he told of the aircraft boneyards in AZ and associated radio gear piles were pretty amazing!

Give a listen for WA7LYO down in the 80m portion of the band some evening. He puts out a decent signal for only running 100 watts or so.

HA! Nooooooooo sir, we left that one at Shelby. He did ask how you were doing, though. I betcha he's got some incredible ghost stories to tell. Only 10 months 'til Shelby!
