Here's the man, Ray Heising. Born in 1888, he figured out a decent way to make AM. And Bell Labs, what a dapper place that was at the time. I bet those hallowed halls housed some far-out technology at the time. Would love to to take a time trip back there to meet Mr. AM himself.

Bell Labs was a fun place to work. And, especially at the end of the year, when your Department had to spend all of its allocated budget or risk not getting the same amount, or more, the following year. Lots of interesting, famous, and non-famous people walked those hallways.
