Been collecting parts for the “813’s X 813’s maul” and came across a Gates 500T and a complete side panel from a BC-1. Lot’s of useful parts other than the iron. Didn’t care for gutting it out but it was in very bad shape. Anyway I found some prints on the net but mostly for the BC-1 mixed with some BC-500 that are common to both. Some of the parts, mainly the supplies, in the 500 are not labeled the same as in the BC-1.

Really I just need a wiring diagram for the 500T and not the individual schematics for each section. Sure I can figure it out, but a print would be nice to have as a reference.

Off topic but the 807 audio driver board looks useful for driving 813’s without using an interstage transformer. Any bad news??

Thanks again

Best Regards

I have BC-500 iron in my GPT-750 mod deck.

As I recall that 807 driver (4, IIRC) runs 'em in Class A(!).  In any event, the fellow that built my mod deck used the BC-500 design for the driver - the modulator uses 813s with 807s driving 'em.  Don't recall if there's an interstage tranny or not.  So short answer is "maybe"  Grin

John:

Sorry I meant driver transformer instead of interstage. I searched the AM board for the Gates cathode follower. I believe I’ll try it.

You could also run the mod 813's in AB1 and drive them with a pair of 6sj7's as voltage amplifiers.
