..my ts950sd has ceased transmitting...i use it for all round receive, and AM time and again...when i key the mike, cw key or manual tx, it still receives....i've noticed as well, that when i turn it off, the fan does not run-up, as before...any ideas?..

Could be anything.  Start here http://n6tr.jzap.com/Kenwood_RTX_Manual_PDF.pdf - covers many different KW models, but the troubleshooting tree is the same.  Then on to the service manual I would presume.

Might try re-seating connectors. I suppose they use the same stuff as other Kenwoods. I've seen the connections on the gray coax become funky.

Duh. Never mind. I did not read carefully.

The PTT ground is lifted somewhere.    Probably the main PTT line to the board, or it's ground.

I have  the same problem on my FT990. No PTT from the mic connector, but have TX from the front panel MOX swiitch.   Found the ground trace open in the mic connector 's PCB.  Have another mic PCB which I will swap out  when I have time. Will repair the old connector and put back in stock.
