It's not stupid to ask, only to assume.

My club will be out there, but I don't know if we'll have a "real" am rig, since power is always a problem.  It the rigs can do AM, I'll definitely tune around the Ghetto on 75 and call CQ once or twice.

I'll be operating Field Day with one of the local clubs. All the rigs they plan to use have AM capability (push a button or turn a switch) but I'll wait and see on band conditions, band activity, and my motivation.

I have noticed most rigs they are selling new today have gone over to 12.8VDC.

For club FD events this has led to the demise of generator-based power, so it's not as easy to include the more substantial, vintage, AM gear.

So, the supply power problem, combined with a lot of band congestion, does not make for a very hospitable environment for an AM station in Field Day.

I'll be useing the only transciever I have..
The Genesis G59 SDR kit.

With it's BLAZING 2.5 watt carrier on AM  (10-12 watts peak)

I'll try some AM with it, but likely spend most of the time on the dreaded SSB.

Maybe get the SS amp fired up before then.... then I'll have a whopping 30 watts on AM...  150+ on sloppy buckety.

I'll probably bring the retro-75 and sling a few CQs out there from time to time. But mostly CW for me as I'm only bringing my K2, KX-1, and SW20+. Smiley
