Very nice looking home, Ed.  Hope you can find ways to install antennas without too many problems.

Well, I completed the acquisition of my Father's day gift.  After getting the go ahead from the XYL, got the rotor cable to reach from the shack to the top of my tower which is near 300' total.  Wow, that stuff is very expensive!  I used the larger gauge cable (2 x # 12 and 6 x # 16) which was overkill, but couldn't find the next size down anyway for a decent price.  Hope to complete my antenna project(s) within the next month or so.  I have always believed the basic premise that for an effective signal...spend the money in the backyard.  We will see how it all works out.  Happy Father's day to me.  Grin

Some guy had several virgin 500' spools of that stuff at Dayton this year for $50 each.  He sold me a partial roll, with about 280', for $30.  I should have spent the lousy extra 20 bucks for a full roll.  I plan to use mine with the remote antenna tuner setup.  The two #12 wires will carry the 12vdc to run  the motor, and the smaller conductors will feed the indicator circuitry.

I have tested the full length of the cable with the DC motor, and the voltage drops to about 11.6 volts, but it still seems to rotate OK, with enough torque that I can't stop it by hand.

Wow Don, I wish I had seen that cable at Dayton!  It cost me over $300 (with shipping) for 300 ft. I think it was .96/ ft.  Story of my life....oh well, at least I have it now and can proceed with my project.  You certainly got a great deal with the price of copper wire so high these days!

Ed, n3lhb Ed....very nice. Like the look of your new digs.

Gonna need some masonry bits to get thru that brick for the open wire feeders.

I see that big tree in the background begging for some wire.

Congratulations

Copper wire is kinda  like a nicotine addiction in NYC.  I just read somewhere that cigarettes there are now running almost $12 a pack!

I'd much rather spend the money on wire.

NY City has always had higher prices fer things ($5.85 tax per pack). Here in Sorrycuse, they are only $10.00 a pack ($ 4.35 tax). The state will get a lot o mony by raising the taxes.....    Much smarter than the State of Pennsylvania, what fools; they only get about $1.60 tax per pack, the retail average is $5.  With the price of gas, no one here will be able to drive the 80 miles to save $50 a carton.
