Anyone know what this transformer was used in?  What is it's audio quality?

I think this was the favorite mod transformer that Timtron would always talk about. Kinda universal. Pair of 810's modulate a pair or single 4-400A (?) or a pair of 810's??

Never heard of it used for a pair or single 813.
Someone refresh my braincell. I have never seen a mod transformer with a screen tap. In Hi-Fi audio yes, but not A.M. transmitter. I remember the 20V-2 specifically. Separate supply line to the screens of the 4-400's.

I like SLAP BACON

Hi

To know a transformer is defect ,You can use An AC ampere meter or a light bulb in series with the winding and the ac input  AC (live) ----> light bulb/AC ampere meter ------>primary  transformer winding -------> AC (neutral/-).,and without a load on the secondary winding,
When the light bulb ,light brightly or the AC ampere meter shows a high current, than there's a shorted turn in the transformer.

Pherd You are right, never heard the transformer is used in one or two 813,but it does not meant that We can not used it for the 813 transmitter,As long as the impedance ratio is right We can used it for any transmiitter tube ,as long the power rating of the modulator transformer  is right.

The ART-13 modulation transformer has a screen tap on the secondary to drive the screens of the 813 final.

2 x 811's for the modulator.

Dont forget the little ARC-5 mod tranny as well. It also has a "tertiary" winding.
