KC8ZUL, Gerry, and 5-6 other guys have been camped since Friday in the middle of the woods on a very muddy path somewhere in West Virginia.

They're running on a Generac generator, with an R5000 receiver and a Collins 20V3 transmitter.

A 20V3 transmitter.

They hauled it all out there in a heavily sprung F150 with 4WD. Why all this ? BECAUSE THEY CAN. Ah !  What a great reason !!

Antenna is a doublet at about 50 feet and they're sounding mighty large tonight on 3885. Give a shout or at least a listen.  Right now with Kerri KC2UFU, Buddly WD8BIL and Grant W4BVT

GPS them -- it really is near the middle of nowhere.

N 37 48.188
W 082 12.746

AND they've done it before !

They should do that for Field Day.  Put out a big strapping AM signal and turn in a log to the ARRL.

I can hear them (albiet barely, thru the S9 noise level) here in SV1-land.

Amplitude at altitude.
Holi Crappers that looks like fun.
I hope they make another vid.
The pole dancer station ID is aces.

That 2 pole / 3600rpm / 1 lung screamer in the video is LOUD.
Those boys need a nice 4 pole, 1800rpm 2 cyl genny,
(Like an older Kohler RV unit)
w/ 50ft of #8 to get it away from the camp
A wide spiral of egg crate foam staked around it works really well also, from experience.

What a blast.

Once Gerry shut the door on the "studio" (inside the truck) the generator noise was down pretty far.

Here's an aircheck recording.

I have more when I opened up the receiver, but this is where he's describing things.

Amazing.

Real Hams from a Real State, West, By God, Virginia
-The remote Logan area camp seems to be the True Rump gov't. of the West Virginian Imperial Empire.

..final four by the way, -coming to an arena near you (if you live in Indiana.)

And notice that the SSB'rs are sequestered in the corral in the distance, surrounded by SUV's and 150's.  See, they really are happiest when in the presence of the anointed.

That is one cool erector set for the Collins in the truck's bed.
Thanks Paul, great qso's, find and followup.
