I came across this website with writings by John, NU9N. It has an easy-reading summary about AM and other hi-fi related Ham subjects.  It would make good reading for newcomers to AM looking for a general overview with some good examples.

I see John's call sprinkled around when doing a search here, but maybe this particular site is not well highlighted. Or, maybe it would make a good site link above?  I see he has a link to AMFone and AMWindow.

Use an "AM Courtesy Filter" to limit transmit audio bandwidth  +-4.5 KHz, +-6.0 KHz or +-8.0 KHz when needed.  Easily done in DSP.
